Comparing Qik VideoCamera with iVideo Camera on iPhone 3G
Taken using Qik VideoCamera (Audio Boost ON)
Taken using iVideoCamera
The videos were taken one after the other using an iPhone 3G. Personally, I much prefer the result from Qik VideoCamera.

PhonoCam takes a photo and record the ambient sound at the scene. The image came be saved to the iPhone Camera Roll separately. The sound files can be exported to iTunes. In iTunes the photo is included in the AIFF sound file and is used as the cover art for the sound.
In order to import the sound files onto the Mac, there is clear step-by-step here: When uploaded to Posterous, the original sound file has 3 seconds of noise added at the end. I tried an old Mac app called AudialHub to convert the AIFF file to MP3 and it had the same problem. Then, I used WireTap Studio which did the conversion without the noise. This is what I've uploaded here. There is no problem with the original sound file in iTunes. PhonoCam brings a new dimension to taking photos.

TapeDeck in a Mac Desktop app. Retro Recorder is an iPhone app.
It's interesting how much nicer Retro Recorder is visually. I also prefer the ease of use and output quality of Retro Recorder which is also much less expensive than TapeDeck. Now is the time of iPhone apps replacing Desktop ones. Side-by-side image done with Image Before and After IPhone app. Sent from my iPhone
